This is odd, you don't give the buckwheat to water ratio. I've had to look at what you've laid out to figure it out.

My mother made the ahead of time then lightly fried them in butter to brown them a little bit. These look great too.

I find it amusing that British people criticize food when British cuisine is one of the worst in the world along with American, because what is British, pie? A food similar to pie can be found almost anywhere in the world, either baked or cooked little or bigger, under different names, so in principle even this is not British, but ok let's accept it :) it is interesting that in these tasting videos usually either British or American people taste it, those who do not have one for their own country typical delicious food 😊
